Rem Koolhaas characterized as an contemporary architect, he have had own viewpoint to emphasized his textuality , identity and often associated with different perspective. He influence many fields particularly in literature, entertainment and architecture. Despite of being a renowned Architect Rem Koolhaas criticized in his designed and one of that is CCTV building in Beijing, I get fascinated to his design because of its stunning contour but I can’t imagine that huge buildings with massive weight hanging off center in a hundred feet above the ground, how this building abide in an earthquake zone mainly in China. Rem was very rational Architect he addressed all solutions to his design.
Whereas, regarding video presentation definitely caught my attention that Rem Koolhaas talked about grid and put a wall for a purpose to exclude a crowd of bad to a good person and besides he seems want to form a new City, I knew some people won’t understand what Reem Koolhaas really want to point, for others he’s weird or one kind of absurd or insane because he is took away from reality or also called a “dogma”. Nevertheless , is’nt a bad thing to be deceived about the truth and a good thing or reality what the important is how we interpret the world in our own with aim, perhaps there is always a separation between our mind and ideas of things and the thing in itself. I thought the idea of Reem Koolhaas explicitly same with the essence of paintings within either representational or non- representational technique like cubism or a distorted figure, why I say that words? Because paintings not only have a purpose to pleasing our eyes through colors or beautiful images but we need to perceive that there is implicit meaning or a story, “story behind on what we see” like a masterpiece with some of my favorite painter like Rembrandt, Picasso, Da Vinci, Paul Cezanne and Vincent Van Gogh.
Now I truly understand that Architecture is a word, words with idea, accuracy and conceptualizing within the world of Art and reality .
